GESTDOMANDA 2016 - Demand side management

The objective of the study is the analysis of the available literature on the topic of dynamic pricing, in order to identify the ways in which it was tested/applied. Then we study the applicability of dynamic pricing schemes in the Italian power system identifying possible barriers.

The objective of this study is to provide to regulators and legislators evidence of best practices for the implementation of dynamic pricing schemes. The report starts with an analysis of the international experience of implementation of dynamic pricing, then with the identification of potential barriers for the applicability of these pricing strategies in the Italian power system. The study is divided into these phases:

• The first phase has as objective the analysis of the available literature on the topic of dynamic pricing, in order to identify the ways in which it was tested/applied on a large scale in international experiences and to evaluate the results obtained from testing/application on a large scale, in order to identify, in the case of positive results, the best practices. The survey focuses on Spain, France, Finland, Germany and the UK, but is not limited to these countries.

• In Phase 2 we study the applicability of dynamic pricing schemes in the Italian power system, with a focus on replicability in the national context in the light of the current regulatory framework. The main objective is to identify possible barriers that could impede the application of dynamic pricing in the national electricity system.
