Transducers have a dramatic impact on the accuracy of voltage and current measurements in power systems. Their metrological performance is usually assessed by means of comparators, considering sinusoidal steady-state conditions at the rated frequency, or evaluating the frequency response function. However, both of those approaches are not able to consider the nonlinear effects, which in some cases are far from being negligible. A more accurate characterization of the transducers is proposed; the approach is based on a frequency domain Volterra model which has been simplified by considering the typical spectral content of voltage and current waveforms in power systems.
