RSE at the EMP-E Virtual Conference

RSE at the EMP-E Virtual Conference

RSE is contributing to energy planning research in Europe with the results of Horizon 2020 projects.

The fourth conference of the Energy Modelling Platform for Europe (EMP-E) will take place on 6th– 8th October 2020 and will be hosted by the European Commission DG Research & Innovation in Brussels. The conference is organized in co-operation with a group of eight Horizon2020 projects.

The EMP-E brings together scientists and policy makers working on current energy modelling and energy policy issues, looking at the current and future opportunities for change. This annual conference seeks to bridge the gap between scientific modellers and policy makers at all levels, with the help of European Commission representatives.

The EMP-E 2020 conference is articulated into 4 plenary sessions and a certain number of Focus Groups, created with the aim to debate important issues affecting the change of the electric system.

Within the Focus Group 4 (“FG4: Smart cities, smart grids and digitalization: modelling insights and lessons learned”), four topics were identified among which :

A)     “Evolution of the role of distribution system operators”. The debate for this topic will be moderated by Gianluigi Migliavacca (RSE), who will bring on board experiences gained in the projects SmartNet and FlexPlan.

B)     “Multi-energy systems (e.g. district heating/cooling systems, industrial sites, campuses, public and commercial buildings) in their urban environment”. The debate for this topic will be moderated by Edoardo Corsetti (RSE), who will bring on experiences gained in the project MAGNITUDE.

The FG4 session will take place on October 7th (h13.30-15.00 CET).

Registration is free and can be carried out on the web at the address: EMP-E 2020: Modelling Climate Neutrality for the European Green Deal
